Dr. William C. Mendrano, Undersecretary for Livestock of the Department of Agriculture (DA) visited the Nueva Vizcaya State University (NVSU) on August 11, 2021. His visit commenced with a courtesy call to Hon. Ruth R. Padilla, the Officer-in-Charge of NVSU and followed by a short meeting with the Dean and faculty-researchers of the College of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine at the NVSU Mini-theatre.

Usec. Medrano discussed the "OneDA Reform Agenda'' which aims to empower farmers and fisherfolks for a more resilient Philippines through consolidation, modernization, industrialization, and professionalization. He further elaborated on the 18 key strategies to realize this program of the DA, and discussed entry points of State Universities and Colleges to access DA funds. The discussions underlined NVSU’s responsibility in producing technologies that would create impact to the lives of the Vizcayanos and NVSU's critical and important function as an engine of economic growth.

Usec. Medrano further encouraged for the continual improvement of NVSU’s research and extension programs, especially in responding to the current situation on African Swine Fever through the “Swine Repopulation Program” and “Bantay ASF sa Barangay.” #RET
