Faithful in innovating methods for the student services in the University, the NVSU Educational Testing Center (UETC) and the Computer Science and Information Technology (CSIT) Department launched the Web-based Faculty Performance Evaluation on April 17, 2017.
According to UETC Director Prof. Josefina Sana, the project was set to make the evaluation process more convenient and accessible to students as compared to the previous computer- and paper-based evaluation procedure.
The Paper-based evaluation system usually runs for four months including the room-to-room evaluation. This method, however, was frowned because of its bulky storage, high production cost and inefficient retrieval. Thus, the idea of computerized system to web-based evaluation materialized having automated data sorting, filtering, quick data storage and retrieval.
Students, through their smartphones and laptops with Internet access, can now evaluate their teachers by logging in to their iNVSU U-Connect accounts, (if none, students can register at the E-Lab). Next, access the FPES page at https://fpes.nvsu.edu.ph, and enter the required information in the screen. Choose the name of the faculty and students can now start the evaluation.
The Faculty Performance Evaluation measures four key areas of teaching personnel which are Commitment, Knowledge of the Subject Matter, Teaching for Independent Learning, and Management of Learning.
As to date of writing (April 27, 2017 - 09:00am), Prof. Sana, with reference to the FPES Evaluation status per college, revealed that 1,085 students have already evaluated their teachers. The evaluation turn out as of April 27 hit 19.08% of the 5,685 total student population including senior high school.
Prof. Sana stands positive for the programs success and calls for the immediate response of the different College deans to remind their students to participate in the evaluation period until May 19, 2017.
The said program was made possible through the helping hands of Prof. Sana, Vilchor Perdido, Fidel Patricio, Prof. Carmelo Alejo Bisquera, and Nilda dela Cruz of the CSIT Department.
