NVSU Sabatan Technopreneur Hub hosted an Intellectual Property, Business Registration and Licensing Seminar at the NVSU Mini Theater, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya on August 19, 2021. This activity was conducted in collaboration with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and the HEIRIT program of the University.

The said seminar was aimed to educate the incubatees and would-be incubatees of the NVSU Sabatan Techno hub on the importance of registration for intellectual property, the steps in business registration and licensing, and consumer/business education and advocacy. In compliance to the IATF protocols, only 30 were in attendance physically and 40 via zoom. The attendees were composed of students, faculty and private individuals.

Lecturers and their respective topics were:

  1. Dr. Jessie Pascual Bitog, NVSU OIC Research Director – Online Intellectual Property Registration
  2. Dr. Blesila R. Ramos, Chief, IPO/IP Officer-Sabatan Project – Roles and Functions of NVSU Intellectual Property Office
  3. Ms. Angie U. Gumaru, DTI Regional Office Consumer Protection Division - Business Regulation and Licensing
  4. Atty. Cyrus I. Restauro, DTI Regional Consumer Protection Division - Consumer Education/Business Education and Advocacy

The Hon. Ruth R. Padilla, OIC President expressed her full support to the Sabatan project. Prior to the start of the seminar, she had a dialogue with the DTI officials led by Dir. Ruben D. Diciano, Asst. Regional Director of DTI Region 02 and Dir. Henry O. Conel Jr., Provincial Director DTI-Nueva Vizcaya.

This very productive endeavor was spearheaded by Dr. Cristina R. Salvosa, Project Leader NVSU Sabatan Project and Campus Administrator of Bayombong, and was strongly supported by Dr. Wilfredo Dumale, Jr. Vice President for Research Training and Extension.
