NVSU-UCES is now a Certified RCEF-LSA

The Department of Agriculture-Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center II (DA-ATI-RTC II) awarded the Certificate of Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund-Learning Site for Agriculture (RCEF-LSA) to the Nueva Vizcaya State University (NVSU) on August 26, 2021 at the Office of the NVSU President. The certificate was awarded by Jhimcelle V. Salvador, Development Management Officer II of DA-ATI-RTC II and was received by Hon. Ruth R. Padilla, Officer In-Charge of NVSU. Other NVSU officials present during the awarding ceremonies were Dr. Wilfredo A. Dumale, Jr., Vice President for Research, Extension and Training, Dr. Maribel S. Bacena, Director for Extension and Training, and Dr. Agustin B. Lunag, Focal Person for the NVSU LSA.

The establishment of RCEF-LSA is a component of the four key programs of the RCEF, which was created through RA 11203 to improve rice farmers’ competitiveness and income amidst the liberalization of rice trade. The certification of the NVSU-University Central Experiment Station (UCES) as RCEF-LSA will strengthen NVSU’s extension and training services, which will result to more clientele to be served, especially the rice farmers who are the beneficiaries of the RCEF. Through the NVSU-RCEF-LSA, it is hoped that the capabilities of rice farmers on modernized inbred rice and seed production and other relevant skills will be enhanced for improved competitiveness, productivity, and income.
