CAS hosts 3 seminars on ICT Week 2024
As part of the ICT Week 2024 Celebration, the College of Arts and Sciences - CSITIS Department hosted three simultaneous seminars focusing on IT related discussions, held at the ITE Building on May 3, 2024.
The concurrent launch of these activities resonated with this year’s ICT Week theme: “Cultivating Skills and Innovations in Technology for a Digitally Competent Society,” featuring esteemed speakers: Mr. Karl Steven A. Maddela, Information Systems Analyst, DICT R2eLGU-iBPLS; Philip Joshua D. Lucas, Freelancer, Web App Penetration Tester; and Samantha P. Dawided, Project Development Officer, DICT-NVPO.
Held at ITE 202, Mr. Karl Steven A. Maddela delved into Data Science and Analytics, covering discussions ranging from the basics of data science to practical techniques and data cleansing for analysis. Simultaneously, at ITE 203, Mr. Philip Joshua D. Lucas shared his expertise on Cybersecurity, focusing on offensive security strategy, methods for identifying exploits and vulnerabilities in websites, and preventative measures against website hacking. Meanwhile, Ms. Samantha P. Dawided discussed Strategies for Social Media Marketing, highlighting success stories of various brands and content creators, and providing graphic design tips and tutorials to help users elevate their own visual content and effectively utilize it on social media platforms.
The three parallel seminar sessions were attended by all enrolled students in BSCS, BSIT, and BSIS programs at NVSU. These activities are designed to help students thrive in the digital world by equipping them with necessary knowledge and skills.
