?Addattuyen dagiti nalalaing? chants the student-leaders who won big at the Ninth Philippines I Transform! Young Leaders Convention held last October 6 to 11 of this year, at Teacher?s Camp, Baguio City. The event, chaired by Youthlead Philippines Founder, Mr. Metodio "John" Maraguinot Jr., was conducted with the theme, "A Decade of Action: Leading Amid Covid and the Better Normal."

Youth Leadership Excellence for Active Development (Youthlead) Philippines (YLP) Inc. is a non-stock, non-profit, non-political, and youth-focused development organization with the goal of empowering young leaders to make a positive influence on communities. The organization is governed by principles that define Transformational Leaders: (1) ?Transformational Leaders are Believers,? (2) Transformational Leaders are Excellent,? (3) ?Transformational Leaders are Stewards,? and (4) ?Transformational Leaders are Shakers.?

Alongside these are the values they uphold, which are: (1) to collaborate, (2) to be helpful, (3) to be motivated, (4) to be punctual, (5) to be innovative, (6) to be obedient, and (7) to never forget to have fun.

Philippines I Transform! Young Leaders Convention (PITYLC) is a yearly event being hosted as part of YLP's I Transform Campaign to provide an avenue for the youth and adult leaders to strategize, cooperate, and engage as active stakeholders in bringing about personal and communal transformation.

Envisioned towards the social transformation of communities, the YLP, Inc. gears itself to attaining its seventeen (17) Sustainable Development Goals or ?#ITransform4SDGs?: (1) No Poverty, (2) No Hunger, (3) Good Health and Well-being, (4) Quality Education, (5) Gender Equality, (6) Clean Water and Sanitation, (7) Affordable and Clean Energy, (8) Decent Work and Economic Growth, (9) Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, (10) Reduced Inequalities, (11) Sustainable Cities and Communities, (12) Responsible Consumption and Production, (13) Climate Action, (14) Life Below Water, (15) Life on Land, (16) Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, and lastly, (17) Partnerships for the Goals.

Coupled with leadership discussions were various competitions to which our NVSU student-leaders participated in.

Kabataan Fair Youth Catalyst Project

The Kabataan Fair Youth Catalyst Project winners, coached by Mrs. Katrine Tucay (NCSSC Adviser) and Mr. Fernando Del Mundo, Jr. (SCSSC Adviser), brought home a project grant worth twenty thousand pesos for the Project, ?Laku,? an Ilocano term for carrying goods from place to place and sell.

The chant was again heard as the student-leaders paid a courtesy call to University President, Dr. Wilfredo A. Dumale, Jr. at his office last October 12. With the stories shared by the participants, Dr. Dumale also shared his hope for the young NVSUans to always be ?hakot-award? in every competition they attend to.

This year's PITYLC was enjoined by 1,600 delegates across the Philippines, from both Higher Education Institutions, and the Sangguniang Kabataan.
