NVSU Holds First Pets’ Day

The Nueva Vizcaya State University – College of Veterinary Medicine (NVSU-CVM), in partnership with the Nueva Vizcaya Veterinary Medical Association (NVVMA) and the Provincial Veterinary Services Office (PVSO), spearheaded the first Pets’ Day celebration on September 19, 2025, at Padilla Hall, NVSU Bayombong Campus. Themed “Act now: You, Me, Community”, the event was held in observance of World Rabies Day 2025.

The activity underscored the vital role of pets in promoting health, happiness, and productivity among employees and students. With the university administration pushing for wellness initiatives, Pets’ Day became an avenue for relaxation, de-stressing, and camaraderie.

The first part of the program featured a Pet Parade around the campus, followed by a Pet Blessing, as well as free deworming and anti-rabies vaccination services for pets, reinforcing the importance of rabies prevention.

The second part consisted of a seminar on “Basic Principles in Fracture Repair” delivered by Dr. Elfren F. Celestino, Jr., DVSM, PhD, and attended by clinicians at the Philippine Citrus Center, NVSU compound. The seminar aimed to empower both students and veterinarians with essential knowledge in veterinary practice.

At the end of the day, NVSU’s Pets’ Day not only contributed to rabies awareness but also reinforced the advocacy for mental well-being and responsible pet ownership within the university and the wider community.
