NVSU-CVM Dean Dr. Torio finishes international vet sci training
With NVSU's support in advancing global standards in education, the dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Haidee Torio, completed the intensive four-month training in veterinary science under the United States Department of Agriculture Faculty Exchange Program (USDA-FEP) at the University of Tennessee (UT), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA.
This program aimed to enhance the teaching and research skills of university professors from various countries, including the Philippines.
The USDA-FEP training program was meticulously designed to address science-based Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) and Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) issues relevant to international trade.
Collaboratively developed by US universities, the USDA, and other government agencies, the curriculum focused on updating courses, teaching methodologies, student assessments, research techniques, and practical field experiences.
Furthermore, the program incorporated follow-up visits by US host professors aimed to assess the implementation of newly developed courses and encourage ongoing collaboration between the US and participating universities. This highlights the commitment to fostering academic exchange and enhancing the quality of education in veterinary science.
