NVSU-CVM offers free spay, castration, anti-rabies shots at 17th Vet Fest

As part of the 17th Veterinary Medicine Festival, the Nueva Vizcaya State University-College of Veterinary Medicine (NVSU-CVM) launched a Free Spay and Castration Program on February 26, alongside a three-day Free Anti-Rabies Vaccination Drive from February 26 to 28, 2025.

On the first day of the festival, 22 dogs and cats underwent castration, while seven cats were spayed. Additionally, 58 pets received anti-rabies vaccinations over the course of the celebration.

This initiative aimed to promote responsible pet ownership, control the stray animal population, and prevent the spread of rabies, a significant public health concern. The event was made possible through the efforts of the NVSU Animal Health and Diagnostic Center, CVM faculty, and members of the Clinicians Club, with the support of private veterinarians Dr. Marie Gel Nueva and Dr. Abegail Joice Tuzon-Daguio.
