Serving Success: Stephanie’s Recipe for Academic Excellence
Have you ever been in a situation where you are in a popular restaurant and find it difficult to choose what to eat because everything seems delicious? Or in the context of studying, are you having a hard time choosing a college course to take? Were you influenced by a friend's suggestion or convinced by ads online or on campus?
For Stephanie Mico Kathrine C. Vadil, cum laude of Nueva Vizcaya State University (NVSU) Bambang Campus, the decision was clear. Her choice to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management Major in Food Service Management was influenced by no other done… her siblings!
Growing up in a family-oriented environment, Stephanie found her inspiration from her very supportive family. Her sister and brother are both graduates of hospitality and tourism courses. Her sister, a valedictorian of her batch in 2013, and her brother, who graduated in 2019, set a high standard that Stephanie aspired to meet and exceed.
Stephanie's academic journey was faced with so many challenges which included the high costs of laboratory work and on-the-job training (OJT).
"I am thankful to my family, especially my Mama and Papa, who found solutions to our financial challenges. To my ate and kuya, thank you for supporting me financially," Stephanie expressed with gratitude to her parents and siblings who always find ways to plate solutions to every challenge.
Aside from the financial constraints, one of the most unforgettable experiences was completing her thesis alone to avoid potential group conflicts, and which taught her valuable lessons about independence and time management. It was a dish she chose to prepare solo, ensuring every ingredient was perfectly balanced.
This 22 year-old student- leader was able to manage her time for academics and extracurricular activities which according to her made a significant impact in her life in the university.
"Half of my time was taken up by extracurricular activities. It's important to make a time chart to balance academics and other activities,” she stated.
As she looks to the future, Stephanie plans to pursue a career in her field, although she is still exploring specific opportunities, one thing is for sure, and she will pursue a career in her field.
The knowledge and skills she acquired at NVSU, enhanced by the university's commitment to technological advancements and up-to-date education, have prepared her for the challenges ahead.
“To NVSU, thank you for the knowledge you provided. Your dedication to keeping students abreast of new trends and technologies has been invaluable,” she expressed.
Like a well-executed dish, Stephanie’s academic journey is a perfect blend of hard work, dedication, and the perfect garnish of a strong support from family.
