COE - Bambang holds its First Hard Hatting Ceremony
With the theme “Exploring Innovation and Engineering the Path to a Sustainable Future,” the College of Engineering - Bambang Campus proudly conducted its first-ever Hard Hatting Ceremony for Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME), Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE), Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering (BSCpE), and Bachelor of Science in Electronics Engineering (BSEE) students who are now set to begin their On-the-Job Training (OJT).
The event took place at the NVSU Cafeteria, and was attended by OJT-qualified students from various engineering programs (BSEE, BSECE, BSCpE, and BSME) along with their supportive parents, faculty members, and a distinguished guest speaker, Engr. Othmar P. Galpito, Chief of the Construction and Power Generation Division at NUVELCO. The program began with a processional, followed by an opening prayer led by Mr. Jonard S. Patangan (BSEE student). Engr. Larry P. Remolazo, Dean of the College of Engineering, officially welcomed everyone and introduced the guest speaker.
Engr. Galpito delivered a motivational talk, sharing not only his insights on the role of engineers in sustainable development but also the symbolic meaning of the hard hat and vest. He left the students with powerful words: “Your hard hat journey begins now. Go make it legendary.”
A symbolic Vesting and Hard Hatting Ceremony was then conducted per course, followed by the Oath of Service led by Ms. Maui Asuncion (BSCpE student) and the Words of Commitment delivered by Mr. John Lloyd Natividad (BSME student). In a heartfelt and symbolic moment, students then came together for a chorus performance of "Today My Life Begins" by Bruno Mars, echoing the spirit of new beginnings and determination.
The program concluded with a closing message from Engr. Jeanelyn R. Tominez, Chair of the Mechanical Engineering Department, followed by the singing of the university hymn, Mahal kong NVSU—a proud and unifying moment for the NVSU community.
This event was hosted by Engr. Silverio V. Magday Jr., who served as the Master of Ceremony and ensured the smooth flow of the program.
Congratulations to all OJT-qualified students and heartfelt thanks to their families for their constant support. Your journey as future engineers begins now—wear your hard hats with pride and purpose!
