CVM’s Vet Outreach provides care to over 190 companion, farm animals

As part of the celebration of the Nueva Vizcaya State University’s (NVSU) 21st Charter Anniversary, the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) conducted a veterinary outreach program on March 17, 2025, in Barangay Careb, Bagabag, Nueva Vizcaya.

The activity provided essential veterinary services to both companion and farm animals in the community. A total of 150 dogs and cats were vaccinated against rabies, helping to prevent the spread of a fatal yet highly preventable disease. In addition, 41 ruminants were treated with dewormers, ectoparasiticides, and vitamin supplements to improve their health, well-being, and productivity.

The services were rendered by the CVM faculty along with the Clinicians Club, showcasing the university’s strong commitment to community engagement and public service. The outreach also served as a valuable opportunity for veterinary students to gain hands-on experience in delivering animal healthcare in real-world settings.

The vaccines, medicines, and supplies used during the outreach were generously provided by the Provincial Veterinary Services Office of Nueva Vizcaya, making the event possible and impactful for the local community.

Through activities like this, NVSU-CVM continues to promote animal welfare, safeguard public health, and support the livelihoods of local farmers—contributing to broader efforts toward healthier communities and more sustainable agricultural practices.
