NVSU receives Blood Program Outstanding Award for Voluntary Blood Donation Leadership
The Nueva Vizcaya State University (NVSU) was honored with the Blood Program Outstanding Award by the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Nueva Vizcaya chapter during the Blood Heroes Night Recognition Program 2024, held at the Ammungan Hall, Capitol Compound, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya, on July 26, 2024.
The award was presented during the university's flag-raising ceremony, where the NVSU family, led by University President Dr. Wilfredo A. Dumale Jr., proudly received the recognition.
This prestigious award acknowledges NVSU's commitment to the spirit of volunteerism in saving lives through voluntary blood donation.
The program, which first commenced in 2015, faced challenges in its initial run due to the lack of a designated coordinator.
However, through the initiative of Mr Joel G. Degamo, Coordinator, and the support of the university’s administration, the partnership has been successfully reinstated since 2019.
The Red Cross Youth and Mr.Degamo made a collaboration to raise awareness and to organize blood donation activities within the campus, disseminating information about the benefits of blood donation and encouraging participation.
One of the notable events under this partnership is the Blood Olympics, a competition where different colleges participate in donating blood.
The most recent Blood Olympics saw the College of Engineering emerge as champions, having donated the most units of blood.
Through this revitalized program, NVSU reaffirms its commitment to humanitarian service, health protection, and community solidarity, embodying the values of volunteerism and collective responsibility.
