NVSU sends off faculty-students to Hokkaido University

As part of its ongoing efforts in internationalization, Nueva Vizcaya State University sent two faculty-students from the College of Teacher Education (CTE) for their graduate studies at Hokkaido University.

Ms. Melanie E. Ricardo, a third-year student, pursuing a PhD in Science Education with a specialization in General Science, will be presenting her study titled "Paper-Based Analytical Devices (PADs) for Immunoassay and Biochemical Detection of Escherichia coli in Water." Ms. Ricardo, a full-time DOST STRAND scholar from the CTE-Bayombong Campus, is participating in the DOST SANDWICH PROGRAM.

Ms. Threesha Gee Maree A. Bahingawan, a second-year student, is pursuing a Master of Science Education in General Science. She will be presenting her study titled "Development of Microfluidic Paper-Based Device for the Detection of Escherichia coli for Water Quality Assessment." Ms. Bahingawan, also a DOST STRAND scholar from CTE-Bayombong Campus, is attending Hokkaido University on a part-time basis.

Both students are enrolled as special research students at the Graduate School of Chemical Sciences and Engineering, Hokkaido University, located in Sapporo City, Hokkaido, Japan. Their duration of stay at the university is from April 15, 2024, to June 30, 2024.

Their dissertation and thesis adviser is Dr. Lori Shayne A. Busa, and their supervisor at Hokkaido University is Professor Manabu Tokeshi.

The DOST-STRAND is headed by the project leader, NVSU President Dr. Wilfredo A. Dumale, Jr.
