CVM Conducts Outreach in Bagabag and Solano

In celebration of the 22nd Charter Anniversary and Rabies Awareness Month, the Nueva Vizcaya State University - College of Veterinary Medicine conducted an outreach program titled “Improving Ruminant Productivity Through Parasite Control and Rabies Prevention through Anti-Rabies Vaccination” in Brgy. Communal, Solano, and Brgy. Careb, Bagabag, Nueva Vizcaya on March 4–5, 2026.

The activity aimed to support local livestock raisers and promote public health through veterinary extension services. It was conducted in partnership with the Provincial Veterinary Office of Nueva Vizcaya, Municipal Agriculture Office of Solano and Bagabag, and the Barangay Local Government Units (BLGUs) of Communal and Careb.

On the first day, ruminants were dewormed and given vitamins to improve their health and productivity in Brgy. Communal. In addition, 148 dogs and cats were vaccinated with anti-rabies vaccines (ARV) as part of the community’s rabies prevention efforts.

On the second day in Brgy. Careb, 106 ruminants were dewormed, given vitamins, and vaccinated against Hemorrhagic Septicemia. Moreover, 356 dogs and cats were vaccinated against rabies, further strengthening the community’s protection against the disease.

The Clinicians Club, composed of 5th and 6th-year Doctor of Veterinary Medicine students, served as the workforce during the outreach activity under the supervision of CVM faculty veterinarians.

Deworming and parasite control play an important role in improving livestock productivity by helping animals better utilize nutrients for growth and reproduction. Meanwhile, the anti-rabies vaccination campaign promotes public health by reducing the risk of rabies transmission from animals to humans, contributing to the national goal of achieving a “Rabies-Free Philippines by 2030.”
