Learning Beyond the Classroom

“Nueva Vizcaya State University has shaped my growth as a future educator in many concrete ways.”

Thus, Mary Joyce C. Acob expressed, whose story reflects the true spirit of resilience, leadership, and purpose.

According to her, the Future Elementary and Early Childhood Education Association (FEECEA) and its Lingkod Turo initiatives helped her find opportunities to serve while developing both her teaching and leadership skills in real community settings.

“Through our FEECEA Lingkod Turo program, I connected with young learners in our community, mentoring them, helping with lessons, and encouraging them to keep studying despite difficulties,” she expressed.

These experiences allowed her to build strong foundations in teaching while nurturing compassion and responsibility.

“These opportunities at NVSU built my confidence, deepened my compassion, and helped me translate theory into meaningful learning for children,” she explained.

Her advocacy extended further when she became Ms. NVSU SCUAA 2025, using her platform to promote quality education. In March 2026, she proudly represented NVSU at the regional Mr. and Ms. CaVRASUC, where she was crowned First Runner-Up.

“Pageantry sharpened my public speaking, self-confidence, and ability to connect with diverse audiences—skills I bring into teaching and leadership,” she said.

For Joyce, FEECEA Lingkod Turo represents NVSU’s strong commitment to producing educators who serve communities.

“FEECEA Lingkod Turo shows NVSU’s commitment by bringing teacher education students and faculty into real classrooms each year. Beyond teaching basics, the program builds community relationships, models inclusive and creative pedagogy, and gives students practical experience,” she stated.

Through these engagements, Joyce discovered both purpose and transformation.

“Teaching is a profession that offers so much more than you imagine,” she reflected, stating that it wasn’t her first career choice, but she embraced it over time and was transformed into a purposeful future educator.

She leaves future educators with this message:

“If you choose this path, bring honesty, curiosity, and heart. Be open to learning and let the classroom shape you as much as you shape it.”

Joyce’s journey highlights how NVSU, through FEECEA Lingkod Turo and community engagement, develops student leaders and volunteers—empowering them to lead, serve, and transform lives through education.
