NVSU, PSTO, DOST Scholars provide support to IP Youth during BEST for IP exam
While aspiring BEST for IP scholars took a significant step toward achieving their educational dreams through the qualifying examination, members of the Association of DOST Scholars of Nueva Vizcaya State University (ADS-NVSU) stood beside them through ISKO-OPS, a national initiative led by DOST-SEI Scholars, designed to extend academic support to DOST-SEI Applicants.
The initiative began with a free online review session conducted on June 15, helping applicants prepare for the examination, and continued exam day through a scholar's pantry and assistance activities aimed at encouraging the aspiring scholars.
A total of 99 qualified Indigenous Peoples (IP) applicants took the examination after successfully meeting the program's screening requirements. The examination serves as a crucial step in the selection process for the pioneering BEST for IP Scholarship Program, which aims to expand access to higher education opportunities for students from IP communities.
Demonstrating the university's commitment to the welfare of the applicants, NVSU President Dr. Wilfredo A. Dumale Jr. personally visited the examination venue to monitor the conduct of the examination and check on the aspiring scholars and facilitators.
DOST Provincial Science and Technology Office - Nueva Vizcaya representatives likewise ensured the smooth and orderly administration of the examination, providing applicants with a conducive environment as they pursued the opportunity to become part of the scholarship program.
Results of the examination are expected to be released following the evaluation and validation process. Successful applicants will move one step closer to becoming part of the program's first batch of scholars.
From the pool of examinees, 50 scholarship slots await deserving students who will be selected to benefit from the BEST for IP Scholarship Program. More than financial assistance, the program seeks to empower Indigenous Peoples through education, leadership development, and opportunities that can help uplift their communities.
