VETMED STUDENTS WIN BIG AT THE 19th NCVMS
Student-representatives from the College of Veterinary Medicine participated in the 19th National Congress of Veterinary Medicine Students (NCVMS) held last February 9-11, 2023, at Sarangani Highlands Garden and Restaurant, General Santos City, South Cotabato.
The Microbiology Team, composed of Ms. Kim Leileenie D. Maniquis (2nd year, BAS-DVM), Ms. Lyanne C. Bente, (3rd year, BAS-DVM), Ms. Janelie Claire L. Calderon and Ms. Evan Lliane Darla A. Alvarez (4th year, BAS-DVM), brought home the Championship as they landed 1st Place in the Microbiology Quiz Bee.
Meanwhile, for the Anatomy Quiz Bee, the team of Ms. Lyanne C. Benter (3rd year, BAS-DVM), Ms. Remalyn Toledo (5th year, DVM), Mr. Reyman Phil G. Gapad (2nd year, BAS-DVM), and Mr. Mark Klein N. Inocencio (4th year, BAS-DVM), garnered 4th place.
The teams were coached by Dr. Jennifer T. Albano, College Instructor.
Sponsored by the University of Southern Mindanao, Kabacan, this three-day event themed, "Bai Tarugon Ta: Unraveling Realities and Breaking Barriers in Veterinary Medicine," aimed to bring VetMed students together in celebrating their profession. It featured four (4) lectures from reputable Doctors of Veterinary Medicine and the topics covered are as follows:
Lecture 1: Dr. Emilia A. Lastica on "Basic Management in Conservation of the Philippine Eagle: Breeding to Rewilding"
Lecture 2: Dr. Paul A. Cardenio on ?Leadership Matters in Veterinary Practice"
Lecture 3: Dr. Franklyn R. Buenaflor on "Wildlife Act: Its Implementation Issues and Challenges"
Lecture 4: Dr. Jennefer R. Bulawan on the "Basics in Diagnostic Laboratory Procedures"
Winners were introduced to the NVSU Faculty and Staff during the Flag Raising Ceremony on Monday, February 13, 2023.
