The Association of Filipino Students in Japan (AFSJ), in collaboration with Nueva Vizcaya State University (NVSU), successfully concluded DUNONG 2025: AFSJ Research Colloquium, an international academic event that showcased the research contributions of Filipino scholars in Japan.
The virtual colloquium brought together students from various universities in Japan and the Philippines, providing a platform for research presentations and discussions on academic advancements, scholarship opportunities, and student life abroad.
Participating institutions included the University of Antique, Hokkaido Association of Filipino Students, Philippine Hiroshima University Students Organization, Association of Filipino Scholars in Tsukuba, and Filipino Students in Nagoya.
The event featured parallel research sessions covering science and technology, engineering, humanities and social sciences, and finance, management, and economics. It fostered cross-border collaboration among Filipino researchers and strengthened academic ties between institutions.
NVSU President Dr. Wilfredo A. Dumale Jr. underscored the importance of giving back, recognizing the role of Filipino scholars in national development.
"Even while studying abroad, you continued to find ways to give back to the Philippines. Your research, hard work, and knowledge were not just for personal growth but for the betterment of our country," Dr. Dumale stated.
Beyond academic discussions, the event also allowed NVSU to expand its networks in Japan, fostering potential collaborations with Filipino scholar organizations and academic institutions.
With its successful conclusion, DUNONG 2025 reaffirmed the commitment of Filipino scholars to academic excellence and strengthened NVSU’s international linkages, paving the way for future partnerships in research and education.
