NVSU conducts health awareness seminar: 'My Health, My Right'

In observance of world health day, the Nueva Vizcaya State University conducted a 2-day seminar on health awareness, themed ‘My Health, My Right’, on April 25-26, 2024.

The activity aims to promote health awareness - both mental and physical well-being among faculty and students.

This seminar, identified as one of the priority programs of University President Dr. Wilfredo A. Dumale, Jr., reflects to NVSU's mission to engage, innovate, and empower the students of the University.

The said seminar welcomed participants from various academic years, with sessions tailored to address the distinct needs of each cohort. Session 1 catered to 1st-year students, Session 2 to 2nd-year students, Session 3 to 3rd-year students, and Session 4 to 4th-year students, ensuring comprehensive coverage across the student spectrum.

This initiative was spearheaded through the collaboration of various university offices, including the Mental Health Program Office, Guidance and Counseling Services Unit, Student Affairs and Services Office, Health Services, Gender and Development Office, Multi-Faith Office, and USSC Bambang Campus.

Jeferson L. Callangan, Mary Anne B. Lorenzo, and Rachelle R. Callangan led the sessions on mental health awareness. Their discussions focused on practical strategies on managing stress, anxiety, and depression while advocating for a destigmatized approach to mental health issues.

Ryan L. Salinas,University Nurse, talked on the discourse on physical health awareness, and emphasized the importance of a healthy lifestyle and preventing common ailments.

Further,Jane G. Martinez, Focal Person of Gender and Development, delivered stirring closing remarks, reaffirming NVSU's steadfast commitment to promoting gender-sensitive and inclusive health initiatives.
