NVSU proposes Coffee Innovation Center to boost NV’s coffee industry
In his presentation to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Nueva Vizcaya on Nov. 13, 2024, University President Dr. Wilfredo A. Dumale Jr. introduced a proposal for a Nueva Vizcaya Coffee Innovation Center at NVSU.
He emphasized that the center could serve as a provincial hub for coffee research, cultivation, processing, and product development, providing critical support for the local coffee industry and farmers throughout Nueva Vizcaya.
To bring this vision to life, the center requires an additional P5 million in funding to acquire essential equipment, which will build upon the P5 million infrastructure support already allocated by the Department of Agriculture - Bureau of Agricultural Research (DA-BAR).
This combined investment will strengthen the center’s capacity to support farmers, entrepreneurs, and other stakeholders, fueling growth and sustainability in the local coffee sector.
President Dumale envisions this hub not only advancing the quality and reach of coffee products by Nueva Vizcaya's growers and producers but also establishing a distinct coffee identity for the province through this innovative center.
