NVSU-CFERM clinches 2nd RUp in 14th NFO
Proving to be a Center of Excellence, the Nueva Vizcaya State University - College of Forestry, Environment & Resources Management (NVSU-CFERM) secured the overall 2nd Runner-Up trophy at the 14th National Forestry Olympiad (NFO), held at the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) from February 25 to March 1, 2024.
The NVSU-CFERM contingent, comprising Bachelor of Science in Forestry (BSF) students, namely: Jenabel O. Costales (BSF 3), Henedyn H. Bueno (BSF 2), Guinobyrt A. Merjudio (BSF 4), and Andrei Alexis DG Banta (BSF 1), further secured Second Place in three categories: Leaf Identification, Tree Disease Identification, and Wood Identification. They also achieved fourth place in Seed Identification and Tree Measurement categories.
Guided by their coaching team: Dr. Shierel F. Vallesteros, Assoc. Prof. Romnick L. Pascua, and For. Kenn O. Querido, the team demonstrated exceptional skills.
Moreover, from the NFO's establishment in 1994 until 2017, NVSU-CFERM consistently claimed positions in the top three.
The event was hosted by the Zeta Beta Rho Honor Fraternity and Mussaenda Honor Sorority of UPLB.
