NVSU CFERM Strengthens Global Linkages Through Lecture Visit of Singapore-Based Expert

The College of Forestry, Environment and Resources Management (CFERM) of Nueva Vizcaya State University hosted Dr. Woo Kang Wei of QuantumClEL, Singapore, for a special lecture under the project “International Expert Engagement for Academic and Research Advancement.” Held on October 18, 2025, at the JTA Sentosa Hall, the event highlighted CFERM’s growing commitment to academic excellence, research innovation, and global collaboration.

Dr. Woo, an expert in smart city and smart community design, delivered a five-part lecture covering carbon credit, material science, Internet of Things (IoT), blockchain technology, and solar power applications in forestry, agroforestry, ecotourism, and environmental science. His sessions showed how innovation and technology can support environmental and resource management in the Philippine context. Faculty and students, especially from CFERM, gained valuable insights into global trends and their practical use in local research and community development.

The lecture aimed to deepen understanding of global environmental innovations, strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration, and advance the university’s internationalization efforts. Organized in partnership with QuantumClEL Singapore, the CFERM Alumni Association, and the Sierra Madre Environmental Ventures Corporation (SMEVC), the event gathered university officials, faculty members, researchers, students, alumni, and partners in forestry and environmental science.

An interactive forum followed the lecture, where Dr. Woo engaged with the CFERM community through open discussions and group sharing. The exchange identified possible areas for joint projects with QuantumClEL and SMEVC and laid the foundation for future collaborations that integrate international expertise into NVSU’s academic and research programs.

The event also coincided with the 51st Founding Anniversary of CFERM, which concluded with a fellowship lunch celebrating the college’s legacy of leadership in forestry and environmental education.

Through this engagement, CFERM reaffirmed its mission to promote global collaboration and sustainability-centered learning and research. The lecture visit of Dr. Woo Kang Wei reflects the college’s continuing commitment to developing foresters, environmental scientists, and resource managers who lead with innovation, partnership, and environmental responsibility.
