
NVSU-CFERM hosts two-day Research Colloquium, Framework Workshop
The College of Forestry, Environment, and Resource Management (CFERM) of Nueva Vizcaya State University (NVSU) held its two-day Research Colloquium and Framework Workshop on August 14–15, 2025, showcasing student research and setting the college’s research agenda for the next five years.
Day 1 featured student thesis presentations in Forestry, Agroforestry, and Environmental Science. Dr. Jayson Q. Caranza, the Dean of CFERM, opened the program with a call to strengthen research for community and environmental development, followed by a message of support from Dr. Lori Shayne A. Busa, the Director of Research and Development. Nine student groups presented their studies before a panel of evaluators, with the Best Thesis Awardees set to be announced during the CFERM Anniversary.
Day 2 focused on faculty collaboration and agenda-setting. After a plenary presentation on strategic research directions, faculty groups engaged in breakout sessions on integration, publication and commercialization, mentorship strategies, and agenda planning for 2026–2030. The outputs were presented during the plenary session and formalized in a commitment-signing ceremony
The event highlighted the blend of student innovation and faculty planning, reinforcing CFERM’s commitment to a strong, collaborative research culture aligned with institutional goals, national priorities, and sustainability challenges.
