On to the Next LEAP… and to many more

After two years of limited contact amidst the crisis, the University's Research, Extension and Training pulled off the full face-to-face 19th University In-House Review of Completed and On-going RDE Projects on October 19-20, 2022 at the NVSU Gymnasium, Bambang, Nueva Vizcaya with the theme ?On to the Next LEAP: Linking Elevated Minds and Advance our Paths Toward Futures Thinking.?

The event started with an opening program participated by the administrators, participants, stakeholders, and guests. A doxology was performed by Mr. Eduardo P. Bragado and Ms. Heniecy Ann B. Morts, and the NVSU Koro was led by Mr. Lionel Luis F. Dumelod for the national anthem and Vizcaya Hymn.

Dr. Carlo F. Vadil, Campus Administrator for Bambang Campus warmly welcomed all delegates after hosting this year?s UIHR.

Vice President for Research, Extension and Training, Dr. Jonar I. Yago also delivered his message appreciating the top-level preparation of everyone involved in the event, including the presence of high-caliber evaluators and the stakeholders.

Afterward, Campus Extension Coordinator for Bambang Campus, Dr. Vilma M. Santos acknowledged the participants and all stakeholders present.

Dr. Jessie Pascual P. Bitog, R&D Director introduced the evaluators and participants while Dr. Maribel S. Bacena Extension and Training Director announced the program objectives and mechanics.

In his inspirational message, University President, Dr. Wilfredo A. Dumale, Jr. also extended his gratitude to all committees involved in the preparation for the event, along with the students, evaluators, project heads, presenters, and stakeholders. Furthermore, he accentuated the importance of collaborations between senior and junior researchers, and encouraged them to invest their time and effort collectively to learn from each other?s expertise. ?Kailangan natin silang i-train para sa mas mahihirap pang responsibilidad at pagdating sa research undertaking. Kailangan na nating tumawid from being a research university into a technopreneurial university.? He later left three keywords as he concluded his speech, which were ?positivity?, ?optimism? and ?prosperity? towards a better NVSU.

The papers were divided into four categories assessed by distinguished evaluators. For the Research Category, Dr. Roel R. Suralta, Dr. Marilyn G. Patricio, and Dr. Aurora F. Piñon; for the Development Category, Engr. Jonathan R. Nuestro, Engr. Maria Jonem P. Gacad, and Dr. Marietta B. Salviejo; for the Higher Education, Dr. Gloria D. Baguingan, Dr. Bonifacio V. Ramos, and Dr. Samuel S. Poliden; and for the Social Sciences, Dr. Leah B. Abayao and Dr. Rosalinda S. Guingab.

A total of 74 papers were presented where 25 are completed and 49 are on-going projects. The winners in the Research and Development categories will be representing the university in the upcoming CVAARD Symposium this November 2022.

The event was hosted by Ms. Sheena Lyn R. Ramel and Dr. Rodney T. Cajimat, and moderated by Ms. Shayne H. Oteyza.
