P10-M WORTH DA-ACEF/BAR RFDG PROJECTS AWARDED TO NVSU FOR THE UPGRADING OF R&D FACILITIES

The Department of Agriculture under the Agricultural Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (DA-ACEF) and Bureau of Agricultural Research under the Research Facilities Development Grant (BAR RFDG) program awarded two approved projects worth P10 million pesos to Nueva Vizcaya State University through the DA-BAR Director Dr. Dr. Junel B. Soriano, on Friday, July 28, 2023 at the Nueva Vizcaya Convention Center, Provincial Capitol, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya.

The first project โ€œ๐”๐ฉ๐ ๐ซ๐š๐๐ข๐ง๐  ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐…๐จ๐จ๐ ๐๐ซ๐จ๐œ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐‚๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐ž๐ซ ๐ข๐ง ๐๐ฎ๐ž๐ฏ๐š ๐•๐ข๐ณ๐œ๐š๐ฒ๐š,โ€spearheaded by its project leader Ms. Maria Teresa A. Fulgencio and co-project leader Dr. Teresita B. Barangay and architect Justine Louie A. Labao, aims to provide an upgraded training facility in the province to enable the FDA registration process and implement a standard food processing center. The facility will also create an avenue to conduct research and extension projects in the university and create opportunities in nearby provinces. It will serve as a center for postharvest activities, value-adding, and processing. This project will be under the supervision of the College of Human Ecology headed by the College Dean Dr. Rhea L. Adriatico, who is also part of the project team.

The second project โ€œ๐”๐ฉ๐ ๐ซ๐š๐๐ข๐ง๐  ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐‚๐ข๐ญ๐ซ๐ฎ๐ฌ ๐ƒ๐ข๐ฌ๐ž๐š๐ฌ๐ž ๐ƒ๐ข๐š๐ ๐ง๐จ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ข๐œ ๐š๐ง๐ ๐ˆ๐ง๐๐ž๐ฑ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐…๐š๐œ๐ข๐ฅ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ ๐ข๐ง ๐๐ฎ๐ž๐ฏ๐š ๐•๐ข๐ณ๐œ๐š๐ฒ๐š ๐’๐ญ๐š๐ญ๐ž ๐”๐ง๐ข๐ฏ๐ž๐ซ๐ฌ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ,โ€ spearheaded by its project leader Dr. Elbert A. Sana, and co-project leaders Dr. Aldwin D. Pablo, and Dr. Ferdinand B. Arcala, aims to enhance the laboratory facilities of Philippine Citrus Research and Development Center (PCRDC) for leveling-up science-based support services for pest and disease diagnosis, soil and plant tissue analyses, and indexing. This project will be under the supervision of the College of Agriculture.

The ceremony commenced with a welcome remarks from the University President Dr. Wilfredo A. Dumale, Jr., who also initiated the packaging of proposals of the faculty researchers of these two projects for possible funding, during his term as the Vice President for Research, Extension, and Training Program.

An inspirational message was also delivered by Dr. Soriano, and later awarded the notice of endorsement/approval to each project team. The ceremonial awarding was also participated by Mr. Kit Marticio and Mr. Alvin Dela Cruz from the Program Development Division of DA-BAR.

Two Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) were also signed by both parties, witnessed by the Vice President for Research, Extension, and Training Dr. Jonar I. Yago, Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Elma Apostol, and Vice President for Administration and Finance Dr. Cristina R. Salvosa.
