SPDC Conducts In-house and Off-Campus Workshops for Phase 1: Setting the Baseline

As an integral part of the Strategic and Development Planning of the Nueva Vizcaya State University, the Strategic Planning and Development Committee (SPDC), chaired by University President Wilfredo A. Dumale, Jr., conducted an in-house and off-campus lecture and workshop for the implementation of its Phase 1:Setting the Baseline. The first part was held at the Campus Mini Theatre from January 31 to February 1, while the second was done outside the campus at the Convention Hall of Lower Magat Eco-Tourism Park (LMET) from February 7 to February 9, 2023.

The first session (January 31) commenced with an opening program and orientation, followed by a pre-test to assess participants? current knowledge of the basics of setting baselines for strategic planning. After this, Faculty Regent Dr. Julius Valderama delivered his lecture on Setting the Baseline Concepts and Methods of Data Collection and Baseline Studies. Meanwhile, for the second session (February 1), the moderators headed a review of learning from Session 1, followed by the continuation of Baseline Assessment and Analysis and Targeting lectures.

The three-day off-campus session at LMET took place a week after (February 7 - 10), commencing with an opening program and welcoming message from VPPDIS, Dr. Carlo F. Vadil. He challenged the committee to come up with an ?intelligent and smart? plan for the benefit of the University.

University President Wilfredo A. Dumale, Jr. then motivated the participants to recognize the importance of setting the baseline as well as its role in the attainment of the five (5) development goals.

Subsequently, Ms. Arshiela G. Manuel, Ms. Sheryl B. Fontanilla, and Mr. Eric Sam G. Busa facilitated an orientation on the activities, house rules, and expectation setting. To further review the previous discussions, Faculty Regent Julius S. Valderama provided a refresher course to the participants. The succeeding parts of the activity mainly consisted of workshops and critiquing of outputs, with the University President, Vice Presidents, and Faculty Regent as panelists.

The series of activities concluded yesterday, as the representatives from the four units presented their final outputs --with the revisions applied, in response to the comments during the critiquing session.

The reciting (administered by the University President) and signing of the Pledge of Commitment followed shortly after.

The committee also had a photo opportunity, a community dance number, and a short Zumba session before the presentation proper. "Best Dressed," "Early Bird," "Highest Pre and Post-Test Scores," and "Most Obedient" participants were awarded special tokens prepared by the facilitators.
