In pursuit of acquiring best practices and strategic insights from institutions distinguished for their leadership in cultural and artistic innovation, the Nueva Vizcaya State University (NVSU) conducted a three-day benchmarking activity with Batangas State University, Pampanga State Agricultural University, and Tarlac Agricultural University from January 29-30, 2025.
The benchmarking team, comprised of the office director, campus coordinators, and faculty coaches, visited the three academic institutions to observe their best service practices in managing cultural and artistic operations. Aside from the three universities, the NVSU representatives also took advantage of the opportunity to visit the Batangas Provincial Museum and Provincial Tourism Office to inquire about their programmed activities regarding culture and the arts. The goal was to identify key operational frameworks and innovative approaches that could be adapted to improve the drafted NVSU Manual of Operations for the Culture and the Arts Office.
During the benchmarking, the NVSU team gathered data on the policies, programs, and processes practiced by the host institutions. The benchmarking team also engaged in discussions with the cultural directors and personnel from the institutions they visited and learned about their respective key performance indicators in cultural and artistic activities.
As the head of the NVSU delegation, Director Fermila D. Cauilan, the director of the Culture and the Arts Office, spearheaded the courtesy calls with the various university presidents and their cultural leaders. Director Cauilan reiterated the importance of this benchmarking activity in refining the universityβs Manual of Operations for the Culture and the Arts Office. βThis exchange of ideas is not just about adopting best practices, but also about making collaborations that will help us improve the quality and inclusivity of our cultural programs,β Director Cauilan said.
The key takeaways obtained from the benchmarking activity will be incorporated into the upcoming manual of operations workshop and stakeholder consultations, which are set to take place in the coming months of this year.
