2 NVSU faculty members to pursue PhD at Mie University, Japan
Two faculty members of Nueva Vizcaya State University (NVSU) are set to pursue their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees at Mie University in Japan after successfully passing all the necessary requirements.
Mr. Laymar P. Umhao, Instructor I at the College of Engineering (COE), will pursue a program in Environmental and Agricultural Engineering, specializing in Environmental and Ecosystem Science.
Meanwhile, Mr. Xaviery Joseph F. Guzman, Instructor II at the College of Agriculture (COAg), will undertake a program in Sustainable Resource Sciences, focusing on Food Production Sciences.
This academic milestone is a direct outcome of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between NVSU and MU in December 2024.
The agreement between the two institutions aims to promote academic collaboration, research exchange, and faculty development. Through this partnership, qualified faculty members from NVSU can advance their education and contribute to the university’s goal of academic excellence and global competitiveness.
University President Dr.Wilfredo A. Dumale Jr. expressed his profound pride in the faculty members’ achievement, emphasizing that this opportunity strengthens the university’s commitment to international linkages and higher education advancements.
“This is a significant step for NVSU as we continue to build strong international collaborations that will enhance our faculty’s expertise and research capabilities. We are confident that our faculty members will bring back valuable knowledge and insights that will benefit both our institution and the local community,” Dr. Dumale said.
Mr. Umhao and Mr. Guzman will specialize in their respective fields under the guidance of renowned professors at Mie University.
Moreover, they will not only gain advanced knowledge in their fields but will also engage in collaborative research that will contribute to scientific and educational advancements between the two institutions.
