NVSU Faculty Strengthen International Internship Program with Ocular Visit to Phuket, Krabi

Dr. Rhea L. Adriatico, OIC Campus Administrator, and Chrizel Mae Pagbilao, Department Chairman of the Hospitality Management Department at Nueva Vizcaya State University (NVSU), College of Human Ecology, recently conducted a successful ocular visit to Phuket and Krabi, Thailand, from February 4-7, 2025, to strengthen NVSU's international internship program and ensure compliance with CMO 10, s. 2023, the CHED Student Internship Abroad Program (SIAP).

The primary objective of the visit was to engage with Human Resource Managers at prominent hospitality establishments to enhance the implementation of NVSU's SIAP program. Dr. Adriatico and Ms. Pagbilao visited several renowned hotels and resorts in both Phuket and Krabi, including The Slate, Paresa Hotel, Sofitel, Krabi Resort, Novotel Vintage Park, Novotel Phuket Resort, Marriott Resort Phuket, and Movenpick Hotel. These visits provided firsthand observations of the facilities, student lodging arrangements, and training environments, allowing the NVSU representatives to assess the quality of the experience for their students.

Discussions with HR managers focused on the comprehensive benefits package offered to student interns. Dr. Adriatico and Ms. Pagbilao advocated for competitive training allowances, meal provisions, convenient shuttle services, comfortable lodging, and robust insurance coverage. They also emphasized the importance of manageable duty hours to ensure a balanced and enriching learning experience for NVSU students.

The NVSU faculty also discussed the specific requirements and expectations of the participating establishments. They highlighted the crucial role of strong work values, effective communication skills, and proficiency in foreign languages for student success in international internships. Dr. Adriatico and Ms. Pagbilao reiterated the university's commitment to equipping students with these essential attributes to meet the demands of the global hospitality industry.

This proactive initiative by NVSU, in partnership with Ediphi, demonstrates its dedication to providing students with valuable international exposure and practical training opportunities, in line with CHED SIAP guidelines. By strengthening partnerships with foreign establishments like those visited in Phuket and Krabi, and ensuring the welfare of their students, NVSU aims to produce highly competitive graduates well-prepared for careers in the global hospitality sector.
