With a commitment to engage, innovate, and empower, Nueva Vizcaya State University (NVSU) continues to drive agricultural progress through two transformative projects recently awarded funding by the Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Agricultural Research (DA-BAR).
The university secured a total of Php 10 million for these initiatives, with Php 5 million allocated to each project.
The first project, 'Upgrading of Ginger R&D and Processing Facility', received Php 5 million to enhance research capabilities and improve ginger processing technologies, aiming to support and uplift local farmers.
The second project, 'Upgrading of the Coffee Cupping Laboratory into a Coffee Processing and Innovation Center', also received Php 5 million. This project will establish a provincial hub for coffee research, cultivation, processing, and product development.
This soon-to-rise facility in Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya, aspires to strengthen the local coffee industry and provide innovative solutions and market opportunities for farmers.
University President Dr. Wilfredo A. Dumale Jr. personally received the notice of award from DA-BAR Director Dr. Junel B. Soriano, spicing up the university's efforts to champion agricultural advancement and brewing fresh opportunities for local farmers.
“These projects embody our dedication to engaging stakeholders, fostering innovation, and empowering communities,” Dr. Dumale said, expressing gratitude to DA-BAR for their support.
He also thanked the NVSU family for their collective effort and dedication, which continue to drive the university's success.
"Due to our commitment to excellence and continuous improvement, and because of your unrelenting support, our toils continue to bear fruit. Two newly approved projects from DA-BAR worth Php 5M each. My team, these are what you are working for. This is who we are. This is ours," he said.
