College of Agriculture Named Champion as NVSU HATAW Games Conclude
The Nueva Vizcaya State University (NVSU) concluded its Holistic Approach Toward Achieving Wellness (HATAW) Laro ng Lahi Relay games today, January 22, 2025.
The months-long activity engaged faculty members from the eight colleges and the non-teaching employees of the Bayombong campus in Indigenous and creative Filipino games such as Tumbang Preso, Sipa, Kadang-Kadang, Siatong, and Sack Race.
Initiated by the NVSU Culture and the Arts Office under the leadership of Director Fermila D. Cauilan, in collaboration with the Salun-at Project, the HATAW event is scheduled every Wednesday afternoon (4-5 p.m.) to promote health and well-being at NVSU.
Culture and the Arts Campus Coordinator Joseph Bubod facilitated the conduct of the games with the assistance of the Bachelor of Physical Education (BPED) students, who applied their classroom knowledge during the friendship games.
After a series of matchups, the College of Agriculture (CA) claimed the top spot, followed by the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) as the first runner-up. The College of Forestry, Environment, and Resources Management (CFERM), which dominated the opening rounds, finished as the second runner-up.
Aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 on Good Health and Well-being and SDG 4 on Quality Education, the activity, which was advised by the university president, is expected to continue with more interactive activities for employees to take short wellness breaks from their routine assignments.
