Dalaw-Turo Program engages elementary pupils in environmental education

To educate Grade 3 and Grade 4 pupils on vital environmental issues and laws, the Nueva Vizcaya State University (NVSU) Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science (BSES) students conducted Dalaw-Turo Program in Singian Elementary School on March 7, 2024.

The program, which was joined by 55 participants, began with an opening address from Ms. Lorie Joy Declihon Nadia, expressing gratitude for the partnership followed by Krishel Ann Verano, a BSES student, who introduced NVSU’s educational vision, and informative presentations from the other speakers.

Ricaella Fabian discussed the Clean Air Act of 1999, highlighting measures to control air pollution and its health impacts while Dave

Benter emphasized the Clean Water Act, stressing the importance of water quality standards and pollution control.

Moreover, Marian Damaso talked on climate change, citing the Climate Change Act and practical mitigation strategies for students while Vhe Mae Rose Pinnay covered Ecological Solid Waste Management, advocating for proper waste segregation and recycling.

Interactive sessions were actively participated by pupils who were given gifts as token of appreciation.

The program concluded with Dr. Lorena P. Laguardia’s closing remarks, expressing gratitude to Singian Elementary School and commending the BSES students for their efforts in promoting environmental awareness.
