HRM Holds 7th Annual NVSU Hospitality Management Conference

The recently concluded 7th NVSU Hospitality Management Conference successfully brought together industry professionals, educators, and students to explore innovative practices and trends in the dynamic field of hospitality management. With the theme "Going Beyond the Usual, Embracing the Industry's Innovative Side," the conference aimed to inspire participants to break free from traditional approaches and embrace the power of innovation. Over two eventful days, a series of insightful sessions and discussions unfolded, offering valuable insights and inspiring ideas.

Dr. Fitzgerald Fabelico, Campus Administrator, set the tone for the event by emphasizing the significance of going above and beyond and embracing innovation in order to remain competitive in the hospitality industry. Dr. Vilma Santos, the Dean of the College, gave a cordial welcome address and thanked all attendees, and emphasized the significance of the conference in fostering knowledge exchange and collaboration between industry professionals and academics. Dr. Carlo Vadil, Vice President for Planning, Development, and Information Systems delivered an inspiring message to inspire and motivate the participants. Dr. Vadil shared personal anecdotes and insights into the ever-changing nature of the industry, imploring attendees to adopt innovation as a key to career success.

The program then moved into the first session with Mr. Jonathan Barroga, Group General Manager of Newtown Plaza Hotel, Travelite Express Hotel, and Travelite Hotel Legarda, as the resource speaker. The presentation by Barroga on "Artificial Intelligence and the Guest Experience" captivated the audience. Chef Jehan Damasco, owner of Mrs. Bakers Restaurant and Pastry Shop, then took the stage to speak on the topic of "Food Sustainability: Innovative Menu Design and Planning." The final session of the day focused on "Local Coffee Appreciation" and was conducted by Joan Nebrida, France Bautista, and Teody Louie Velasco from the Sartin Coffee Community. They showcased the rich cultural heritage and economic significance of local coffee.

The second day of the conference commenced with the fourth resource speaker, Paulo Eiron Layao, Founder of the Philippine Flair Tour. Layao's session, titled "The New World of Bartending: Bartending Tips, Tricks, and Techniques," enthralled the audience. He shared cutting-edge bartending techniques, trends, and the importance of mixology skills in creating exceptional and unforgettable guest experiences.

Finally, the conference concluded with closing remarks by Marife Aliaga, one of the department chairs in the college.
