NVSU Choir Camp Harmonizes Voices for Anthem Recordings
Coming in fresh as a step toward harmonizing anthem voices, the Nueva Vizcaya State University (NVSU), through the Cultural and the Arts Office, organized the first-ever Choir Camp dubbed as "Anthem Recording: A One NVSU Choir Camp" which brought together choir members from the Bayombong and Bambang campuses on November 29-30, 2024 at the Dumlao Farmers’ Training Center (DFTC), NVSU, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya.
The two-day event, intended to solidify the university’s cultural and artistic legacy and unite the institution under a shared vision of One NVSU, refined the choral skills and produced polished recordings of the National Anthem, NVSU Hymn, and Vizcaya Hymn.
The camp opened with a welcome address from Mr. Joseph Bubod, Culture and the Arts Campus Coordinator, who noted the role of music in nurturing community spirit. Other key faculty members attended the camp to manifest their support and encouragement, namely Associate Professor Fermila D. Cauilan, Culture and the Arts Director, and Mr. Joel Abon, the department chairperson of the Culture and Arts Education program.
For the series of activities, Koro NVSU Choirmaster Mr. Lionel F. Dumelod led the first session by sharing expert tips and techniques to elevate choral performance. Spot rehearsals, recording sessions, and meticulous review of the audio tracks involving choir members followed until the second day, with primary mentoring and guidance from one of the activity's main proponents, Mr. Jophel Saquing.
Through this initiative, the concerned office and the participants hope to produce musical pieces that resonate with the university’s values and identity.
