NVSU Joins France-Philippines Higher Education Networking Event

Nueva Vizcaya State University (NVSU) joined the "Internationalizing Higher Education: Strengthening Links Between France and Philippine HEIs Networking” event, alongside representatives from 60 universities across the Philippines at the Alliance Française de Manille, March 19.

Representing NVSU at the prestigious gathering was Ms. Chrizel Mae V. Pagbilao, International Affairs Coordinator, on behalf of Atty. Regine Karla Tabas, Director for International Affairs.

The event brought together representatives from Philippine HEIs, promoting collaborations and exploring opportunities for partnerships with French higher education institutions.

During the event, Her Excellency Marie Fontanel, Ambassador of France to the Philippines and Micronesia, officially opened the program with her welcoming remarks, highlighting the importance of strengthening academic ties between France and the Philippines.

Meanwhile, Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Commissioner Dr. Shirley C. Agrupis delivered an insightful discussion on aligning CHED’s internationalization goals with the France-Philippines partnership. She introduced the AIM framework—Awareness, Initiative, and Microcredentials—as a strategic approach to further enhance Philippine higher education institutions (HEIs) through global linkages.

A key segment of the event featured a roundtable discussion on the benefits of international collaborations where representatives from Philippine HEIs shared their experiences in partnering with French institutions, highlighting successful projects and best practices. Moderated by Sylvain Lamourette, the discussion emphasized the tangible benefits of global academic cooperation.

Further sessions delved into the specifics of collaboration with France, including French language and culture, studying opportunities in France, international exchange programs, and available tools for academic cooperation.

Presenters included Victor Petit (Alliance Française de Manille), Jehan Paulo Udani (Campus France Philippines), and Michael James Mangaring (France Volontaire: International Exchange, Solidarity Volunteering), among others.

Moreover, the afternoon session introduced opportunities for Philippine HEIs to participate in the European Association for International Education (EAIE) 2025 Conference in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Through Ms. Pagbilao’s engagement, the university gained valuable insights into best practices for global academic collaboration, strengthening its position in fostering meaningful partnerships with French and other international institutions.
