NVSU faculty researchers present papers at Tokyo international conference

Three faculty members of the Nueva Vizcaya State University took part as presenters in the 16th International Conference on Environmental and Rural Development being held from March 13 to 16, 2025 at the Tokyo University of Agriculture, Tokyo, Japan.

Among the hundreds of scholars, academicians, researchers, and professionals who attended from across the world are Associate Professor Mild R. Hombrebueno and Associate Professor Fermila D. Cauilan, from the College of Arts and Sciences, and Dr. Lai Lanie A. Cungihan, from the College of Agriculture.

Anchored on the theme "Innovative Approaches to Enhancing Community Resilience: Strategies for Building Sustainability Against Climate Risks," the CAS educators shared the salient findings of their paper titled, "The Rama Fishing Practice Towards Innovative Local Teaching Pedagogy." The paper explores the rama' fishing practice at Magat river as a site of cultural analysis for meaning-making and multiple realities.

Meanwhile, Dr. Cungihan shared her paper "Establishing a Viable Enterprise Using Free-Range Chicken Production Technology in Nueva Vizcaya State University," which dwells on the successful implementation of free-range chicken production technology as a sustainable enterprise model.

The conference continues to serve as an important large-scale avenue for discussing innovative solutions to climate risks and sustainability challenges in rural and urban communities in the world.
