NVSU–CTE, OISCA strengthen sericulture knowledge through training
To equip students, faculty, and farmers with updated knowledge and practical skills on sericulture, the College of Teacher Education (CTE) of Nueva Vizcaya State University (NVSU) Bayombong Campus, in partnership with the Organization for International, Spiritual and Cultural Advancement (OISCA), organized a seminar held at the Dumlao Farmers Training Center, Oct. 1.
With the theme “One leaf, one worm, one thread of hope,” the seminar was designed to respond to the growing need for sustainable and profitable sericulture practices in the province. Specifically, it aimed to enhance participants’ capacity in sericulture production and management, improve mulberry cultivation and silkworm rearing techniques, and promote linkages with OISCA experts and fellow practitioners.
Resource speakers from OISCA shared practical approaches and scientific insights on mulberry propagation, silkworm care, and silk processing. Participants were also introduced to innovative methods that blend traditional knowledge with modern practices, highlighting sericulture’s potential as both an economic and cultural enterprise.
