Strengthening Global Connections: NVSU, Mie University Ink MOU for Academic, Research Collaboration

Nueva Vizcaya State University (NVSU) and Mie University, Japan, have formalized a partnership to enhance academic and research opportunities through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), at the Board Room of the New Administration Building, NVSU, December 13, 2024

The MOU, which focuses on student exchange and joint research initiatives, was formalized in the presence of key officials from both universities.

Prof. Dr. Morio Tsukuda, Head of the International Exchange Committee of the Graduate School of Bioresources, Mie University, delivered a message highlighting the alignment between the two institutions.

"Our universities have many similar things. We are both located [in regions] famous with citrus production center – NVSU and Mie. We expect [that] we can have good joint research and, we now want next scholarship of priorities so we can accept several PhD students so that means not only the student research but also student exchange is very expected. All these facts show that all of us have a strong willingness to develop our relationship ang strengthen it. Today is the first step and we can begin from now. Congratulations to all of us. Thak you very much!," Dr. Tsukuda remarked.

University President Dr. Wilfredo A. Dumale Jr. warmly welcomed the delegation from Mie University and expressed optimism about the partnership's potential.

"In the side of the university, it seems like everything that started is a dream. When we woke up, it was already here. As we move forward, we aim to enrich this partnership through meaningful activities that will make our budding relationship even more productive. Together, we can achieve mutual interests for both universities," Dr. Dumale said.

He also acknowledged the commitment of Mie University's professors in evaluating NVSU's two PhD candidates currently preparing their applications.

“I would like to appreciate the agreement of our professors to evaluate the application of our two candidates to the PhD program which are currently preparing their documents and for the evaluation. When it comes to our collaboration, I am deeply committed. We pledge, on behalf of our NVSU community, our collaboration. We see only success because our mutual commitment is our initial step, for us to be able to achieve activities together and conclude many activities together. And together we will be able to accomplish the mission of our respective universities,” Dr. Dumale stated.

The ceremony was attended by witnesses and visitors from both universities, highlighting the significance of this partnership in promoting academic excellence, research innovation, and cultural exchange.
