NVSU 20th Commencement Exercises: Dr. Gregorio emphasizes agriculture's role in diverse fields
Honoring the academic achievements and journeys of its graduates, Nueva Vizcaya State University Bayombong Campus celebrated its 20th Commencement Exercises at the Carlos M. Padilla Convention Center, June 27, 2024.
Over 1000 graduates proudly received their diplomas, inspired by Dr. Glenn B. Gregorio’s message, the commencement speaker.
In his commencement address, Dr. Gregorio, Director of the Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA), congratulated the graduates on their academic achievements and acknowledged the support of their families and friends.
He also highlighted the theme, “A Score of Our Past, the Bridge of Our Future,” and emphasized the importance of agriculture in various fields, including engineering, biology, social sciences among others.
“Your theme, actually, ngayon ay nakakatuwa ‘A score of our past, the bridge of our future’ is a very appropriate theme for today. As university graduates entering diverse fields of study you might be wondering how agriculture connects to your chosen path. Let me tell you how it is connected. While it might not be immediately clear, the significance of agriculture exceeds far beyond the fields and the farms. It intertwines with virtually every sector shaping economy’s innovation and even the very fabric of our society. Agriculture plays a pivotal role in sustainable development,” he said.
Moreover, Dr. Gregorio encouraged the graduates to integrate agricultural principles into their professions to address global challenges and contribute to sustainable development, underscored the mission of NVSU to produce globally competitive professionals and urged graduates be leaders and front liners in development.
“To all of you, young graduates, I enjoin you to be the forefront of development as front liners. You have been well-equipped with an excellent school to make a difference. Nueva Vizcaya State University provided you a sturdy stepping stool,” he stated.
Dr. Gregorio concluded by reminding the graduates to uphold ethical standards and use their education to empower positive change in society.
“I look forward for you being leaders in your own field. By leadership, I mean being able to empower people to collectively make positive changes in their higher level purpose and morals. And more important for all, I hope you conduct yourself ethically and worthy of the degrees you receive from the university,” he expressed.
Days before the big event, the Baccalaureate Thanksgiving Service, Tribute to Parents, Recognition Program, and Hooding Ceremony were held for the graduates, parents and university personnel.#
