NVSU receives ICONS Award 2023 for WURI Ranking

Nueva Vizcaya State University's collaborative effort to go #BeyondBorders is recognized in the Internationalization Champions of Nation-Building and Sustainability (ICONS) 2023 for Ranking 101-200 in the Global Top 100 Innovative Universities of the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI).

The ICONS Awards celebrates Philippine higher education institutions (PHEIs) for their contributions to the Philippine higher education sector hosted by the Commission on Higher Education on October 6 at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City.

This event continues to acknowledge the addition of new PHEIs that have gained recognition from international ranking organizations. The main focus of this celebration is to honor PHEIs for their significant efforts in promoting sustainability, outstanding performance in internationally recognized rankings and ratings, groundbreaking initiatives in advancing internationalization, and their valuable contributions to the regional prosperity of ASEAN.

It brought together representatives from PHEIs, ambassadors, education attachés, international and local CHED partners, and potential collaborators from the private industry. 

The WURI is an international ranking system that assesses universities based on innovative education, research, and social engagement approaches. It highlights innovation as a key criterion in its evaluation process.

NVSU submitted five (5) Projects in three (3) Categories.

Crisis Management

1. Flexible Learning and Innovative Pedagogies Project (Project Flip)
2. Flexible Learning Strategy of the Nueva Vizcaya State University

Entrepreneur Spirit

1. Sabatan Technopreneurs Hub Nueva Vizcaya State University

Industrial Application

1. Development of Microfluidic Paper-Based Analytical Devices (µPADs) for the Detection of Diarrhea-Causing Pathogens in Water  
2. Citrus Resources Research and Development Center

The ICONS Award received by NVSU shows the continuous pursuit of its vision as a leading university in education, innovation, and sustainable development.
